PCTools is the maker of this program. One reason why we really like people to check this program out is because they have my favorite Antivurs and antispyware client called Spyware Doctor with Antivirus. Registry Mechanic is a very solid program that is easy to use and it works. It’s hard to find an easier to user registry cleaner.

From the main interface below you will see the one click optimization button. That is really all you need to push to fully clean your registry. Registry Mechanic does offer other tools as well that you will want to check out.

Under the performance tab you will see the option to just clean the registry, compact the registry as well as two other items that can be very helpful.

The Optimize Windows button will basically change some system settings and tweak them to boost your computer speed. Not all of these changes you may like but overall you will like the results. You can always undo the changes if you decide you don’t like the changes.

The Boost You Windows Startup is basically a startup manager where you can choose the programs that auto start when your computer boots. Spend some time in this section as you can get a very nice boost in computer speed from this single program.

The privacy tab offers you some nice goodies. This is where you can delete your internet tracks with just a click. Cleaning out your browsing history is a great idea if others use the same computer. The same goes for the programs you access on your computer. Registry Mechanic clears both of these out.

You can also permanently delete and wipe files from your computer. When a user deletes a file it’s not really gone. The file is just marked as it can be written over. Till it’s actually over written it can still be accessed with recovery software. The Bleach Disks and Shred Files are very nice tools to have to keep your file private.

Not much to the recovery section. This is where you can undo any changes you have made. It’s nice to have just in case you don’t like the changes made.

The setting section is where you can customize how Registry Mechanic works. Spend some time in this section. Under the Registry area on the left you can check the box so a System Restore point is created before any repair is done. This is something I felt should of been on by default but was not on.

Under the general section you can turn on the Privacy Cleaning and Windows Optimizations for the 1-click Optimization button found on the dashboard. This will make it easy to just remove those internet traces and temp files with a single click.

You can even schedule Registry Mechanic to run a scan on whatever date and time you want under this section. Most registry cleaners offer this feature so it’s not anything really special.
